Over 700 days without a forever home ADOPTED!!! – Adrianne

Update: Adrianne was adopted on September 7, 2021!

We’ve had an amazing donor step up to cover part of our current longest feline resident’s adoption fee!

Adrianne, who has been at our shelter for 21 months, is now available to the right home at a reduced fee! Adrianne is a female domestic shorthair who was born around October 2014 and weighs 7 pounds.

She was found in rural Jones County with 5 kittens who weren’t doing very well. She and her kittens were covered in fleas, and Adrianne was not producing enough milk for the kittens because of her poor condition. Two of the kittens didn’t make it, but in the care of a loving foster home, she and her remaining three kittens survived. Now Adrianne is healthy and ready for her forever home!

Adrianne enjoys some alone time, but also enjoys attention — on her own terms. πŸ˜‰ She has a grumpy face, but is very smart, and will sit like a dog and beg for treats! Come visit our shelter and see if this unique girl is the right fit for your family!

Adrianne’s adoption includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, treating for earmites, worming, flea treatment, and microchipping. She tested negative for Felv/Fiv on 12/23/20. If you would like to meet Adrianne, please visit the shelter at 22407 Bus. Hwy. 151 on the outskirts of Monticello. Normal business hours are Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 6:30pm. If you have any further questions, you can call 319-975-8283.

Over 2 years at our shelter ADOPTED!!! – Dorothy

Update: Dorothy was adopted on July 10, 2021!

A generous sponsor has stepped forward to help Dorothy’s adoption. Dorothy is now available at a reduced adoption fee!! Normal adoption approval process still applies. Let’s get this girl in her forever home!!

Meet our current longest resident, who has been waiting for over TWO YEARS now for her forever family… Dorothy! She was adopted from us in 2018 as a kitten, but unfortunately her owner’s health changed and they were unable to keep her. Now she continues to wait for her forever family to find her.

As a no-kill shelter, she can stay here as long as she needs for that to happen… but no cat should have to spend years in a shelter. Dorothy deserves a loving home and family. Please share so we can find that for her!!

Dorothy is a domestic shorthair that was born around April 14, 2018. She is a beautiful girl – brown tabby with hint of orange, and bright yellow eyes. Dorothy is a real sweetheart, though a bit timid. She has begun coming out more and more to meet people when they enter the room she’s in. She will not jump in your lap, but she does like to be picked up and get pet!

When Dorothy first came to us, she was very shy and scared around people. She’s continually getting more comfortable around people, and we believe she will attach more closely to those people she learns to trust. Dorothy needs a quiet home and a patient family to help her to continue to gain confidence. She would do best without small children or kittens, but she would most likely be fine around other adult cats.

Dorothy tested negative for Felv/Fiv on 02/10/21. If you would like to meet Dorothy, please come to the shelter at 22407 Bus Hwy 151 in Monticello. Our hours of operation are Tuesday thru Saturday from noon to 6:30pm.
