Part Time Morning Staff, Flexible

Animal Welfare Friends is seeking to fill a part time position for Morning Staff at the shelter in Monticello. The ideal candidate is neat, attentive, and animal oriented.

The hours for this position are flexible, with start time between 7 am–8 am for 2-4 hour shifts. Shifts can be worked one day a week or many.

The rate for this position is $11.50 an hour.

Any candidate must be able to work with and around animals, including diseased, injured and/or temperamental animals. Work conditions may include loud noises, chemicals, and inclement weather. Allergic conditions which would be aggravated when handling or working with animals may be a disqualification. Candidates must be dependable and have reliable transportation.

Above all, candidate must have affection for animals, and a concern for their welfare.

Stray Dog Pickup

Animal Welfare Friends is hiring an individual to be on call on an occasional basis for stray dog pickups in Jones County.

Pickup employees are paid $15 an hour for daytime calls, and $22.50 an hour for calls on Sundays, Mondays, and any evenings after 6:00 pm. In addition, employee will receive .56 per mile for pickup calls.

Applicants must have a valid driver’s license, mode of transportation, driving insurance, and be comfortable handling dogs.

Pickup locations may be anywhere in the areas surrounding the shelter, including but not limited to Cascade, Monticello, Anamosa, and more. Calls may come in at any time of day, so must be comfortable with driving at night. The number of pickup calls is sporadic — some weeks there are no calls, other weeks there may be several.
